I am interested in how parent-child interactions play a role in children's social and emotional development. Recently, I examined how momentary interactions predict future behavior in parents and children. Currently, I am focusing on how parents emotionally socialize their children. Specifically, how does the home emotional environment shape children's emotion expression? How are parents' reactions to children's emotions associated with children's future emotion expression? The frequency of emotion expression and the specific types of emotions that are displayed in the home will be explored.
