Kristin received her Masters in Public Health and M.A. in Latin American Studies from UCLA in 2004, and is currently a PhD student in Sociocultural Anthropology, with an emphasis on Medical and Psychological Anthropology. For her Masters in Anthropology, Kristin’s thesis paper focused on a particular idiom of distress used by women in a rural Nicaraguan community to express their worries and concerns about family wellbeing. Kristin’s larger research project will explore the impacts of women’s outmigration on family relations and household health in rural Nicaragua, where she plans to return to conduct her dissertation fieldwork.
